PERNICIOUS Looks Bloody Delicious{0}
Indie horror maverick James Cullen Bressack has had his ups and downs lately, with his 2013 film Hate Crime being effectively banned in the UK, and To Jennifer (also 2013) released in April through VOD platform TheHorrorShow.TV’s new partnership with blog Nerdly. His latest film, Pernicious, has been set for release in the US on June 19 – and it looks bloody delicious.
Written by Bressack and Taryn Hillin, the film stars Emily O’Brien, Ciara Hanna and Jackie Moore as three young women, who arrive in Thailand to teach English for the summer. The nightmare begins when their new friends go missing, vivid bloody dreams haunt their sleep and a stolen statue leads them down a dark path into Thai folklore and magic that has been long forgotten. Their situation continues to become worse once they realise that it’s not what is haunting them but who: an eight-year girl, brutally murdered and sacrificed by her family decades ago who wants nothing more than to watch them bleed.
PERNICIOUS is released in the US on June 19. Check out the trailer here.
